Metheringham Airfield is located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire in England. Around 600 acres of farmland and woodland were cleared in 1942 to make room to build the airfield which opened in 1943. Thorpe Hall is situated in Louth, Lincolnshire, England. Built in 1518 for Sir John Bolle. Thorpe Hall stands on 20 acres of decorative gardens and parkland which was created by Gertrude Jekyll. The hall also has its own deer park. Sir John went on an expedition in1596 to Cadiz which he was later knighted for. [...]

Gunby Hall was built in 1700 by Sir William Massingberd in Lincolnshire. During the 2nd World War plans had been made to build an airfield on the Gunby estate which meant the Hall would have to be demolished.
